Nursing School Suggestions..... please help!!!

Published

Hi all....

I'm currently working on all of my nursing pre-reqs.... I already have a business degree from Mizzou with a not-so-hot GPA of 2.8-2.9. Any suggestions of schools that will admit me this fall with my current GPA? I haven't gotten anything lower than a B on my biological sciences. I feel like I'm being punished for having another degree because they are taking all of those credits into account? I have applied to SLU because they don't have a waiting list, but they said I don't meet the GPA requirement and would have to go to a community college to raise my GPA, but it just seems like they are sending me around in circles..... PLEASE HELP!!!

I don't know much of anywhere that you can get in to for this fall. Between waiting lists or application processes, my guess is that it's just too late.

I know you if you meet certain prereq requirements AND take the dosing test, you can get on the wait lists for St. Louis Community College. I think I've read it's about a 2-semester wait right now. As for UMSL, Maryville, and I don't know where else around here, my guess is that it might be too late for this fall. You can always give them a call however. I have no clue what their GPA or other requirements are. Most are pretty clear on catalogs, etc., for the nursing programs however....

Good luck!

I completely understand where you are coming from. I also have a bachelors degree in a totally different field (English), but my overall GPA was  and I couldn't get into any of the Accelerated programs based on that. So, I sucked it up and went the community college route, which, in the long run, saved me piles of money because I know that SLU would charge an arm and a leg and the program at Barnes can be expensive as well. I don't know where exactly you would be coming from, but since I resided in Illinois, I chose SWIC which is right in Belleville and it's only about 20 mins from downtown St. Louis. Heck, I worked in Maryland Heights, did that commute, and still went to SWIC. I took a year to either get caught up on pre-reqs, retake any courses that I needed a better grade in (had made a C in my last math class at my previous college, took SWICs Math 094 and got the easy A just to have it as my most recent math grade), and get a jump on any classes I could such as Anatomy, Nutrition, etc. I know it can be hard to be patient, especially if you want to do something RIGHT NOW, but believe me, it sounds like it might be your only option at this point. Good luck!

Chamberlain would definitely admit you.
