Hello, I have been through many of the nursing school resume threads and most do not fit what I am looking for. Any advice would be great. I'm a 38yo mother of 3. Currently have a few semesters of pre-requisites to finish. So, right now I would like to start to piece together my resume for the nursing school that I will be applying for. I have many years of medical experience as a CNA, phlebotomy, oral surgery assistant and I am currently working as an endoscopy tech. My big question is do I include the jobs that I have had in between? If I do not it would show gaps in the resume. In the midst of all of my experience I attained a degree in graphic design and worked as a designer which I will include. But I've also had less relevant positions such as fabricating crowns and bridges, working at a car dealership both of those consumed about 4 years. I don't want to bore the person reviewing the resume. Also, how different will a nursing school resume be from an employment one other than the objective? Please, all advice will be helpful. Thank you.

Do most nursing schools require a job history? Just curious, have never heard of this before! I recently applied to my LPN to RN program, we were asked how many years of experience we have, but never to list job history...

Resume is on the list of materials to be included on both of the applications for aBSN programs I'm looking to apply to. I hadn't really thought much about it yet but I was generally thinking about just sending my current resume. I'm currently working in a biotech lab doing diagnostic testing and have a similar career history of lab work. I plan to look more into "what is expected" prior to sending in my first application in January but honestly I'm not too sure they expect anything more than my standard resume.
Certainly interested to hear from others who have applied to aBSN programs and what if anything they did to alter their resumes for their nursing school applications.
