Nursing School Funding

Ok, so Im really bad about planning out my entire life... everyone teases me about it, but, I am planning to have my prereq's done by this fall semester, & starting nursing school next march. I am working a full time job now, and saving what I can so that I can go to school full time & not have to work when I start my RN program. I figured if I can save $5000 by march, I will need about $10,000 more. My RN program in an accelerated program, so its 16 months... so I should be able to make $15k stretch that long if I move back in with my dad. Anyways, to the point, does anyone know how and where to get a $10,000 loan?

Thank you so much for your help!

When I did my undergrad, I got unsubsidized (non need-based) student loans from the government. I think about $2000-2500 per semester. It was direct deposited to my bank account so you can use it however you need. Is this your first bachelor's degree? Most major banks also do private student loan but the interest rate will probably be higher.

Also check with the financial aid department at your school. There are plenty of scholarships out there that you have a chance at some free money. Maybe not enough to pay for everything, but at least to help out with the cost of books and supplies.

I once had a conversation with a nursing school counselor and she said how frustrated she was in most of the students at her school. She said that she posts scholarship info all the time and no one really applies. She said that if a scholarship requires an essay than you can bet that litterally no one will apply. She said keep your essays, write a generic one, and edit it for each scholarship you apply to and your chances are higher than you realize.
