Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hi, I am currently looking for a new job in a new area of nursing like in the mother/baby or labor and delivery and wanted to know what can I do to update my resume with cover letter and to stand out in order to get interviews. What else can I do to make resume more appealing? I updated some but not sure about it, any advice, tips will be appreciated, thanks.

Dear Human Resources Professional:

Please consider me a strong candidate for the position of RN in the Labor & Delivery unit as advertised on the careers website. As you will note from my resume, I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from university. Also, I am currently working as an RN in the Acute Care for Elders unit at x Hospital. Described on my supported document, I have gained the essential skills in order to provide quality patient care. Thus, it is with a comprehensive foundation of knowledge and clinical experience that I now seek to interview for and, I hope, serve within the capacities and values of the rn.

My qualifications include, but not limited to, the following:

Two years of nursing experience working in medical/surgical unit for elders

Desire in providing care to mothers/infants and motivation to help build confidence in the parents for the care of their newborn through education

Evaluated patient priorities and maintained communications with staff, patients, and their families

Bilingual skills and associated cultural awareness to provide quality patient care to a diverse group of clients

In my present role as a registered nurse at x Hospital, I have gained experience and education to provide quality care. There, I was able to attain knowledge on how to care for patients with different disease processes, accurately assess and recognize any abnormal findings, utilize the information to make sound clinical judgments and communicate effectively to the appropriate personnel. I also was able to provide patient/relative education, offer emotional support, and assist in daily living activities. The work was demanding, but I found great satisfaction in caring for my patients. Working on the Labor and Delivery unit will be an excellent opportunity to learn and expand my nursing practice.

Being dedicated in achieving quality care, I will be committed in continuing to grow professionally in a premier facility known for its dedication in providing quality care to women and newborns.

Though my resume is detailed and comprehensive, it cannot fully demonstrate the manner in which I have achieved success. Character, personality, and the ability to work in a team environment can be demonstrated in a personal meeting. I would welcome an interview at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your time and consideration. I am certain that I would become a valuable addition to your staff.

Sincerely,

xxxxxx
