Advice on updating resume now with experience???

Hi, I am currently looking for a new job in a new area of nursing like in the mother/baby or labor and delivery and wanted to know what can I do to update my resume with cover letter and to stand out in order to get interviews. What else can I do to make resume more appealing? I updated some but not sure about it, any advice, tips will be appreciated, thanks.

I also was able to provide patient/relative education, offer emotional support, and assist in daily living activities. The work was demanding, but I found great satisfaction in caring for my patients. Working on the Labor and Delivery unit will be an excellent opportunity to learn and expand my nursing practice.
