Puerto Rico school feedback?

Anyone out there have info on the school in Arecibo, PR? It is a 24 month program that begins in August.

I'd love to hear anything, thanks.

Oakley where else did you apply to?

Touro in Nevada cause it's 16 months, has relatively high pass rates, and is conveniently located to CA and a major airport. I also applied to the Mt. Saint Mary's but it's reedonkulously expensive so probably wouldn't go there even if I got in - and Pasadena City college, but that's strictly ADN.

good news for me unexpectedly i got a phone call back from "e" at about 6:30 es,,and, he was wonderful answered all my questions and helping me out alot!! i am super excited and he also, sending me all the forms i needed..2yrs for the nursing program if you already have a ba and about 3 to 3 and half if you don't...that's still a go to me..no waiting list,i can start this yr hopefully and 3 yrs. instead of 2yr for a waiting list and 4yrs. nursing...idk, i'm going to stick it out and keep everyone updated on my journey( for now ) lol

that's great. you might want to read some of the more jaded responses on this thread page as well as in the last 3-5 pages to gain an idea of what to expect over the next 6 months. "e" seems to very good at getting the application to people and answering the first few questions, but it trails off quickly from there. not to mention, the biggest if is whether or not they will maintain their accreditation. that students currently attending the program doubt it's ability to maintain accreditation is and should be a big red flag for all applicants.

if only upr had a program in english....

The 3 schools in warm destinations I applied to are LSU accelerated program in New Orleans, University of Miami accelerated program, and IAUPR. University of Miami is 39,000 for the 12 month program. So first I need to be accepted and then I will apply for their full tuition scholarship. I will ONLY go there if I get the scholarship.

I applied to only one CA state school which was Humboldt because I had a slight chance of getting in. Then I found out I never actually applied for the nursing program which had a separate application. So that one is crossed of the list.

I applied to two jr colleges, College of San Mateo and Chabot but I really don't want to take that long route. Also I am ready for a change of scenery.

Then as an after thought and from info on this board I applied to 's 11 month ABSN. However I have no intention of shelling out 35,000 and really don't want to live somewhere where I may have to shovel snow. I was accepted though. I wonder if they just accept everyone.

I think I looked into that school in Nevada but I think they wanted pharmacology as a pre-req and I had no intention of taking more pre-reqs. Maybe it was an organic chem class. What ever it was, I was not planning on taking any more pre-reqs. I could be in school another 5 years if I was to fill all the pre-reqs for all the different schools. Well good luck. Cool. Yeah their PA program requires O Chem, but not the Acc-BSN program - and I think it's about $32k for the 16months.

Drexel ...hahah, I lived in Philly in High school and yeah, well it's probably a pretty solid program and Philly has no shortage of very good hospitals.

If the school in Nevada costs 32,000 I didn't look into it. There was another ABSN progrm in Nevada that is part of the group that offers a tuition discount if you live in a neighbor state like CA and it was A LOT cheaper. If you are willing to pay 32,000 for a Nevada school why not 34,000 for . They have a 97% NCLEX pass rate and their program is the absolute quickest in the country at 11 months for an ABSN.

I would look into it. I was accepted but they are last on my list. I want warm and cheap, not expensive and cold. I am OK with spending another year in school.

I've been very pleased with assistance I've received from "E" at IAU. While the admissions department can be difficult to get a hold of, you will eventually receive a decision. People are correct though, you need to give plenty of time to allow for transcripts to be evaluated and you need to be proactive as much as possible. I've been accepted for the August trimester and am starting a housing search. Is anyone else watching this thread been accepted at IAU? If so, PM me. :-)
