Traci,

I can feel your pain. Especially the first exam I took...My hands were wet, and I was shaking. The ladies at the test site were so nice, and helped me to calm down. I took some deep breaths, said some prayers regarding doing my best so that I could pass and to calm down. I still got nervous with each exam, but it seems to get better each time. I have taken all of my NC's, info. lit. Waiting to be given a date to show up for the Soc. Clep, sched. July 10 for Eng.Comp. and then have to take Rel. And of course the lovely CPNE...We can do this! You are going to do this. Good Luck and best wishesF! Traci in Texas

I started this when I changed careers and went to LPN school for tests because before I never did too well taking tests(my grades were so so in college) but my husband built up my confidence and gave me huge encouragement. I would set my goal to be the highest in the class not whether I pass or fail. Even for the excelsior concept tests I would go in with the attitude that I would come out with an A and nothing else would be acceptable. I believe part of course is your studying and common sense and the other is having confidence in yourself. I never changed an answer because I always went with my gut instinct. Once I start to question myself that is when the problems start. My belief in myself is what made the difference.

What your feeling is natural. I failed 2 test EC nursing test because I tried to just study the notes and not read my text(Big mistake). The anxiety is building because you don't want to fail again. You will be fine just relax and go for it.

Like NC Girl RN said, it is totally natural to be nervous about test taking. I too failed two NC tests while I was sick, big mistake. It's important to stay healthy and take care of yourself. Stay positive and focused. Your will become less nervous after each test but will always be nervous because that is how you perform your best, under mild anxiety.

;)

Good luck and got get it done!!!

Good Luck on your test!!!!!!

Thank you for the encouragement everyone. I really need it. I have passed one of my exams, but the thought of failing just lingers in my head. I definitely need to be more positive.

Thank you.

I know this doesnt help you BEFORE getting to the testing center, but I always get nervous once I walk into the room. Once that proctor person walks away and the computer is loading---I ALWAYS close my eyes and concentrate on my breathing until its to the point of slightly less than hyperventilating! LOL! I say a quick prayer and open my eyes and then Im on my way. If I ever feel overwhelmed throughout the test---I do the same thing over again. Hope everyones encouragement helps, but I think that this anxiety means that you are NORMAL. Good luck!
