Whats a good online RN-BSN program?

I've heard good from a friend of mine Excelsior. I've ruled out University of Pheonix.

It's a little off the radar, but Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana (the nursing school is actually in Shreveport) has an excellent program with no site visits required. Web address is www.nsula.edu, then go to Academics, then college of nursing. You can get info online or call the school for more info. I believe it is much more cost-effective than many of the advertised programs. I completed my BSN through this program, and many of the nurses I work with have also, and we all found it completely possible to do while working full-time. Good luck!

This program is completely online but with very good support from the professors. Very cost effective when compared with many online programs, and not difficult to complete while working full-time. The only con is the same with all online programs- you have to be very disciplined and self-directed to complete. I would definitely recommend NSU to anyone seeking to complete their BSN online.

University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) has a total online RN to BSN program for about $240 a credit hour. How many hours depends on what you've already done.

I would look for programs that are both nationally and regionally accredited. Virtually every brick-and-mortar institution offering an on-line RN-BSN program has both but many of the on-line only schools have only national accreditation. This may not matter but could be a serious issue if you decide to pursue an advanced degree. By the way, I believe that UoP, unlike many of the on-line schools, does in fact have both accreditations and so should not present a problem to transfer. That said, they are among the most expensive schools out there and I would rule out their program on that basis alone.

U Texas-Arlington, Thomas Edison (NJ), State U of NY-Delphi, Slippery Rock U (PA), U Wyoming, Ft Hayes State (KS), Penn State, Temple U, U (both PA) and Ohio U are just some of the traditional, fully accredited colleges offering an on-line RN-BSN. The least expensive are probably Ohio and SRU but even the most expensive, Drexel, is still cheaper than UoP.

It's your money though and I fully support your right to waste it as you see fit.
