University of Oklahoma-Accelerated BSN Program

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hi All,

I'm new to this site and to the field of nursing. Has anyone gone to this school and if so, what did you think?

I live in San Diego, CA, and there is an online program that this school offers. I'm 3 prerequisites away from applying to the school, with a start date of August 08. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nicole

oh and I forgot to ask you.....did you take them during regular semester? I was thinking to take them during summer 8 weeks courses....I am asking you all these questions because i want to make sure i take them somewhere where they are not too difficult....i was even considering Rio....so did you feel they were not too bad to study for having 2 kids at home??? I really just study when they go to bed

thanks

Hi Laura,

They were not that bad! There was a lot of work though.......I tried to stay on top of my studies, as it is difficult to catch up at such a fast pace. I took Micro (BIO 204), got a B, over a 15 week period and A & P I and ll(BIO 201 & 202), 2 A's, over a 10 week period, at the same time. That was a bit much, but I needed to finish to apply for January. The home college I went through was Arapahoe Community College.

Overall, I would highly reccommend them. The labs you do at home with a lab kit, and the tests are all timed online. If you don't study, it's very difficult to get the answers right, however, some tests you can take two times and keep the best score.

With Rio, the tests are proctored, which is much more difficult than in the comfort of your own home. Hope that helps!:nuke:

thank you Nicole so much I just posted on the main board too I did not think you will answer today

one more question did you have to buy a microscope too:? it is getting so expensive....

also where did you take Nutrition, Gov????

thank you again

It is soo costly. I have a microscope that you can borrow. Do you live in San Diego? Just let me know when you need it and we can meet for coffee, etc. I bought it when I purchased the labs. I took Government and Nutrition years ago in college, San Jose State. You can most likely CLEP for one of the two, if not both.

thank you Nicole you are so sweet

Yes I am in San Diego around Poway area....and it would be great if I can borrow the microscope ....otherwise my husband is going to kill me if I am spending any more money lol....I cant believe I left my A&P book back in NY when I moved ...I never thought I will go for nursing ....I took A&P I in college....however I know I should buy it again I guess it will be helpful during nursing school

So now I have to decide if I take it at ccconline and I probably will I am just worried I will not manage the labs ...lol maybe I dont see anything through the microscope....

Anyway I wish i was in your shoes to apply now...btw where are the labs/clinicals for this program?

again good luck and I hope you'll give me some good news

Hi everyone,

I am too waiting to hear for Spring 2009. I'm really anxious. Thanks for the update and hope everyone here will get in. Please let me know when anyone hears from OU.

I have a question ...did any of you took A&PII and Micro online???

thanks

Hi Laura06baby,

I took AP I at Westhills College. It's in California so only $20/unit. It's online (lecture and lab). Cheap and convenient. Hope this help.

wow that is cheap....were the labs and exams online as well?

thanks and good luck

oh I was just looking at their courses.....I think Anatomy and physiology are offered in separate courses...

They are separate courses but Physiology is AP I and Anatomy is AP II. That's what I understand as OU accepting it that way. If you want to be 100% sure, double check with the counselor.

Labs and exams are online...open book...I got a real easy going instructor.

thank you again

well Anatomy is usually devided in 2 parts so we have to take Anatomy II ....I took A&PI many years ago in college

I really think you have to take Anatomy I and II and then Physiology I and II....at least at this college

however I see you applied already so how did you do it ???
