To Excelsior or Not to Excelsior, that is the question.... - page 3

Hello all. Thanks in advance for reading. I'm an LPN, almost 2 years experience on a Med-Surg floor in a hopsital where LPN's are trained & utilized as much as the RN's. Great OJT. The situation I'm... Read More

Not the point though, I am only here because of the military, my plans have never been to work in this state. Many people associated with the military are Excelsior students and could end up in Cali. I am only asking that Excelsior informs all potential Nursing students that their degree is not excepted in all 50 states.

My success rate was 100% with Excelsior.

Now while that might really seem like a flippant answer, it's not ... the program is so dependent upon what the individual puts into it that another person's experience really isn't relevant, in the grand scheme of things.

With that being said, I believe the first-time pass rate for the CPNE is around 64%, while EC grads have a higher-than-national-average pass rate for the NCLEX (somewhere around 88%).

I am also a Success! I graduated from LPN school last Aug and immediately applied to EC. Just past the CPNE Dec 7th. IMO the people who stay connected and get their questions answered on the EPN board and allnurses are quite successful on CPNE. Its all in what you put in it. You have to know your stuff and practice your skills.

You guys are the best. I just mailed my Excelsior docs yesterday and had my transcripts from the local County college sent today. I have hated every second of every minute of every day of traditional nursing school and if it weren't for this wonderful forum, I'd still be in hell. Plus I'm broke, my job just layed off a whole lot of great people, and my ex has disappeared along with my child support. I f it weren't for this forum, and Allnurses in general, I'd be so depressed. But thanks to all of you, I know I can do it!

Welcome to the Allnurses EC family, debanam. You'll get plenty of support here.

PS- and you go, girl. Get that RN, and you'll never be that broke again. You're making a wise decision for you & your family. You can do it!
