I passed NC1 today with a B! I'm pleased with that. Sometimes the answer sticks right out and other times you're trying to decide between 2 or 3 answers...of course that's with any test! It feels good to have the 1st test over with! Now onto NC3!

CONGRATS!!! I am just starting NC1. any tips?

I used the College Network study guide. Bought them off ebay. I used that, the excelsior practice tests, and the Lisa Arends cd I bought off ebay. I'll send you what someone sent me on somethings you should know for the test once I can get in my email. That helped me out a little.

Congrats! Great job.:balloons:

Congratulations!! I am studying for NC1 while I wait for EC to review my transcripts so I can enroll!! I just have a quick question about the tests.....is there a specific grading scale? For instance, is a "C" the traditional 70-79%? Just wondering as I know some programs a "C" is a 80% or higher.

Thanks a bunch! :yeah:

Congrats on the B!!! I'm studying right now, trying to decide when to go take the test...how long did you study for this one? I really need to buckle down, time is getting away from me...if I hurry up, maybe we can keep each other motivated! There's a couple of us at work doin' this at the same time...keep us posted!!

When I took NC1 I only studied for about 2 or 3 weeks, but I didn't work at that time so I studied for anywhere from 2-10 hours in a day. lately I have been pulling off a test in 2 weeks with a decent grade. Again studying for about 6 hours a day every other day or so. With 2 hours a day on the other day. HTH

what are you doing when you study? do you take a lot of notes or just read the material? i know i am making this so much harder than it has to be! i took the practice exams for health safety and scored a 69 on the 1st and 72 on the 2nd, but that was before i even had any of my books yet...now i'm reading and i feel like the info is almost too easy...oh bother!!! just gonna have to jump in feet first and see how it goes, i think!

I use the study guide to make an outline sort of thing and make sure i cover each disease, sign, symptom, medicine that is mentioned. I yahoo notes, lisa's notes, or studyguide 101 to make my notes then google to clarify the information I am not clear on. Once I have done that I retype my notes and look up any information *books and google* I am still not sure on and write it out in a way that I can understand and just re-read the final notes taking handwritten notes on areas I am not clear on. I also take a practice test after making the initial notes and then after reviewing the end notes two or three times. I also break it down into sectinos based on the provided sections.

If decide to use Lisa's notes as my primary source then I do the same thing, make an outline but use Lisa's notes and highlight any areas of care I am not sure on, and any word that I couldn't comfortably explain to someone else. I then do hand written notes on those things highlighted and re-type the notes off of Lisa's notes with the handwritten notes added in. Then I do the same review steps as mentioned before with the practice tests coming after the handwritten notes and then after reviewing the final notes a few times.

HTH let me know if any of that doesn't make sense to you or you need clarification.
