Online RN

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

I'm very excited my parents are helping me pay for school. I am not eligible for financial aide at all. So, on line it is. I'm looking for people that have been successful with distance learning systems, or any other online accredited schooling. Thank you in advance :)

It is not possible to get a nursing education completely online. There are no shortcuts, because to sit for the licensure exam (RN is a license, not a degree) you have to have graduated from a program approved by your state board of registration in nursing; they require certain course materials (including a lot of lab sciences) and number of clinical hours in health care facilities to approve programs. You can't do labs and clinicals online.

You MAY be able to take some prerequisites online, though. But before you do, contact some colleges of nursing you'd like to attend and ask their admissions counselors whether those credits would be acceptable in transfer for their nursing degree requirements. Many reputable schools will not accept transfer credits, or will only accept them from reputable schools. Whatever they tell you, get it in writing before you proceed.

Good luck.

Thank you for your insight.

Why does not being eligible for financial aid equate to automatically needing to do your schooling online? Plenty of people don't qualify for financial aid but that doesn't mean they must complete online classes? I don't know where you live, but if you live in a state where offers their nursing pre-licensure program I would look into it if I were you!
