NCLEX Review books

Nursing Students Online Learning

I am going to take NC2 in a few weeks, and I was wondering what NCLEX review books most closely resemble the type of questions I'll see on the Nursing Concept tests. If you have an opinion about any of the review books, please let me know. They are about $40 dollars each, and some are in plastic and so I can't look in them to see for myself. Thanks!

Instead of trying to learn from the NCLEX books (which probably won't be near the same format/content as the NC 2 test from Excelsior), why not just purchase the online practice exams from Excelsior. This way you'll allow yourself to get a feel for what the actual question will be like right from the horse's mouth so to speak.

Once you take the online practice exams and they are graded (instantly) Excelsior will give you rationales for each multiple choice answer, including why the incorrect ones are incorrect and the correct ones are correct. They are saved for you on EC's website so you could always log in and review the rationales anytime at a later time/date.

The only thing that you can't do with the online practice exam is print them...but you could always write down which topics trip you up and study those.

You don't have to be enrolled to take the online practice exam for NC 2.

Costs $60.00 (you get 2 practice tests of 100 questions each, which gives you 200 total questions) and will be the best money/time spent preparing for NC 2, trust me, because you won't be surprised once test day comes.

Good luck.

I do take the practice tests, and I agree that they are a big help. I was looking for a NCLEX review book that will go over the individual sections as on the NC study guides. For example, an acid-base balance section that will give me a review on acid-base balance and have NCLEX type questions with it.

Firepilot,

I used the Saunders Comprehensive Review book. I bought it at the beginning of taking classes at EC and it really helped. You can find the "meat and potaotes", so to speak of each area you are studying. I also used it to study for the NCLEX. It was extremely helpful throughout the whole process.

I'd recommend that one.

Best of luck to you!

Oh, ok kewl...I misunderstood.

I agree with Medic2RN, I have the Saunders book as well and it's incredibly thorough! It's so big and heavy it makes a great book to benchpress during your study breaks.

I'll definately have to get that one then. Thanks!
