I can't believe that after 6 years of being on the waiting list at my local college, I am FINALLY going to nursing school! I tried not to get my hopes up, but now I am so excited! I got my acceptance letter 2 days ago, and was afraid to open it. I figured with the large envelope, that I was probably accepted. Now, all I have to do is find out how to get some grants or schlorships. DH and I made a deal that I can do the program if I come up with $10,000 or over in free money. I already have $2000 from my emplyer...so $8000 to go! And I already have my clinical site ready and waiting for me! :balloons:

Dh just rolls his eyes at me because I'm trying to plan how on earth I will do this program with 2 kids at home and 2 jobs! I'm already begging for a laptop computer!LOL

Who else is starting in May? We will all be seeing eachother in MO in Jan 2005! How exciting!

Doin' the happy dance!

Hi Lisa - I'll be starting in May as well, so we'll be fellow students! I also have 2 small kids, but thankfully no job right now!! I'm trying to figure out how to pay for it as well. I hope I can get some scholarship money or something. We are one of those people that make too much for financial aid, but not enough to pay that hefty bill! I need a laptop too. I know my husband would love it b/c he says I'm always in front of the computer - haha! Looking forward to getting to know you better!

I am so happy for you. I did not get in for the Summer session, but am on the wait list and I will try again for the Fall session.

I know I keep asking everyone, but what did you do to get in (good GPA, previous degrees)??? I have a good GPA (3.525) but no previous degrees.... I am just so anxious to get in... it may be my last chance at Nursing school for a while. I asked Deaconess to send me more information on the clinical sponsorships so I can present that information to the hospital, but they will not give me a definitive answer. Can anyone tell me when/how/what information they received or what they said to the hospital???

Again, congratulations! I would like to hear back from other applicants on the Summer session wait list or that are applying for the Fall session.

I didn't do anything special. I just submited my app and I had written a letter on why I wanted to be accepted. I already have an AAS degree with a 3.8 GPA, so I think that might have helped. I bet you'll get in for fall. Don't give up hope.

I already work for a hospital and they were very aggreable to letting me do the clinicals here. I think I'll have to do some clinicals at a larger hospital though, because we don't have a peds unit. I'm not real sure how I'll approach them...probably with the materials from DCN.

Good Luck!

Lisa

Hi - I didn't do anything special either. But I do have 2 other degrees that were cum laude, so I'm sure that helped. I think the school is just getting harder to get into because more people are finding out about it. I doubt it will be long before other schools start offering similar programs.

Congratulations! I didn't do anything special to get in either, but that was 4 semesters ago (not as many applicants) and I also have a bachelors degree.

HI,

I am also on the wait list for summer 2004 if I don't get in I'll try for the fall. I can't wait to start school. I turn 29 in May and I think I am getting a little scared to be this old(I know I'm not really that old) and not to have started school yet. I have been homeschooling my three children and being busy in other things and overlooked my life. Now I am wanting to rush and get it started! Hope we both get in soon.:)

Hi MommyNurseSarah,

I also got in for Summer and my GPA was the same as yours and I don't have a degree; I do have over 60 credit hours but no degree. Don't worry about beeing on the wait list because I was placed on it as well since I applied for winter but it was already full I had to wait.
