Hitting A Brick Wall With Exams

Nursing Students Online Learning

Hi all, I have the three Lifespan Exams left before FCAA and CPNE. The information on the test seems so overwhelming to me. I tips on how to prepare for these exams. I am sooo nervous. Is there anyone out there that can give me a little hope or strategies?

I meant FCCA.

break it into sections and start studying section by section e.g. i, ii, iii...and so forth. that way you are only focusing on one topic at a time until you complete the whole thing. if you look at it as a whole, then it gets very overwhelming and you tell yourself that it is too much information to absorb, how are you going to start?. start little by little. schedule the exam ahead of time and give yourself a deadline. that way you don't procrastinate. i used sg101 for the lifespan series. you completed the other nursing exams successfully so you should try the same technique for the lifespans.

good luck!

Whatever worked for you on the other exams will work here too!! You are just hitting a wall period, I know how you feel - I JUST WANT THIS OVER!!!!! :banghead::banghead::banged: Break it down into sections and learn each one then move on to the next section and I agree with agldragon schedule the test it gives you a deadline otherwise I just procrastinate but if I have a deadline I make myself study!

Good Luck and You can do this!!!!!!! :D

ditto to what other posters said...take it in bite size pieces! if your not already, def take the practice exams! Study your practice exam & answer rationales - I would make myself 'new' tests off the practice test...reword it a bit. the rationales for 'wrong' answers also contain lots of valuable info.

good luck!!

All I have left is the three LS's left as well. One test is on Fri for me, then the rest are all one week apart. Break it up into the sections, don't let the negative bug ("I can't do this, this is too much info") get in your head. Just read. Take notes. Read again. Take more notes. The next thing you know, you have finished the Abn Cell section and think, wow, never thought I'd get here so quick!

You need to get started. Why not get a calendar and block out the sections on it so you can see progress? Good luck.

Thank you all for your advice. I have begun to study again. I want so badly to complete these three exams by Aug. 15-30th. You are are such a part of my excelsior family. Why not? We all are striving to become perfossenal and caring nurses. I like that, we will be RN's(yeah)

I too have only the 3 exams left! I have found that visiting the website of any particular illness is really beneficial! For instance, when I study Cystic Fibrosis, I go to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - Home and there I learn TONS of info on the disease s/s, mgmt, pt education tips, etc. All the diseases have one! COPD, CA, DM 1&2, DI, CVA, etc. If you need visuals check out youTube. They have great animated medical videos by NucleusAnimation and HighImpactGraphics. They are very basic but it give a clear idea of any particular disease process. Good luck!

The only brick walls are those of your own making. :) (So zen, I know! LOL)

Thanks for your response BerryHappy. I never thought to go to one of the diseases website. Great idea. Lunah, You are exactly right. Is is the walls that I built. I'm sure you understand the overload on the brain. I appreciate and welcome all comments. Thank God for prayers because I needed them. I'm also finishing my sisters book, she passed away on Mar. 1st and it hasn't been easy. So I am agreeing they are the walls I have built.

I have rescheduled this exam. I'm not feeling confortable nor confident in the material.
