Had meeting with TCN and confused now! Help

Nursing Students Online Learning

I had a meeting with TCN and got the cost of the BSN at ISU and was shocked about the price. I am wondering do I have to go through them to take the CLEP,DANTES, and EXCELSIOR COLLEGE exams at the testing centers? Or can I buy the books off ebay and just call and sign up at Pearson Vue (testing center) and say "I would like to take blah blah exam"? Or do I have to be enrolled at some college to do this? Or what...? Another words I have one paycheck to live and feed my kids on, so I have to do it the cheap way and if this can be done then I can do it this way. Then after my pre reqs enroll in ISU? Has anyone done it like that or know if it can be done that way? Skipping TCN all together? Please let me know. Thank you!

The simple answer to your question is that you can do either the ISU or Excelsior programs without paying out money to TCN. Go directly to either website and proceed. If you want to, you can buy used TCN workbooks on ebay at a fraction of their original cost and you will have saved money you couldn't afford to waste. Good luck with your decision.

TCN is cheaper than paying tuition at a traditional college (unless you get financial aid of course) but more expensive than getting the textbooks or study guides off ebay. I used TCN but I only had I believe 5 pre-reqs left (study guides are downstairs or I'd count them...lol!). I'm also in a bit of a hurry to get finished and I only qualify for student loans, no grants so in my case time trumps money. If you need all your pre-req's it will cost a fortune to use them so I would avoid that.

The only study guides you *need* are the phase 2 ones and I hear you can get them off ebay. If not then at least see how many pre-req ones you can get cheap because if you only have to buy the phase 2 ones it will be far far cheaper than if you need a bunch of pre-req ones. I would even shop around for colleges that offer online classes for your pre-reqs because then you can qualify for federal aid and that's the least expensive option of all. ;)

Hope all my babbling makes sense! :uhoh3: lol!

You do not need any other "learning resource" or school or whatever. Go straight to the source.

I'm progressing along just fine through Excelsior without paying another source.

Oops! Sorry.

I just really hate TCN. I see their name and assume they're lying to some poor LPN to RN student.

lol! Yeah I noticed a couple people here aren't big TCN fans and guess they must have had bad experiences. Mine has been fine so I like to add balance. ;)
