So I passed my CPNE on 3/25 and the only thing I had left was a&p 2, since I took a&p 1 at my community college with lab. Since Excelsior doesn't require the lab, I took the a&p without lab option. It took me 4 days to complete and let me tell you it was MUCH harder than I thought it would be. I have a strong backround, because I work in a teaching hospital on a cardiac floor, but even so this kicked my butt! I didn't want to take the excelsior exam because it was way too much info to cover on one test. If you have a pretty strong backround and you did well on your excelsior nursing exams, you should consider this course. I don't recommend doing it in 4 days, but I WANT to take my NCLEX as soon as possible and that was the last thing standing between me and my GN! Any questions please let me know.

p.s. just because it is open book, does NOT mean you have enough time on the tests to look stuff up! I don't want to mislead anyone.

Thanks for the info! I was heavily considering Straighterline but I decided on doing Excelsior's A&P after all... I had a need for 2 extra elective credits that I could fill with overlap from taking the 6 credit exam... so I am scheduled for June 10th!

Good luck on your exam! That looks like a bear of a test and I am so impressed with anyone that passes it. I've read comments about people discounting online and evaluation test A&P programs and I just have to laugh. My community college A&P was easier than straighterline. I've also taken my college algebra through Straighterline, and I am so impressed with them. I wish they would offer more classes that I could use for my BSN

I'm curious, what BSN program are you using? I am considering Thomas Edison State College as they have a very liberal transfer credit policy and except Excelsior exams...

I am trying to see what other Excelsior grads are doing so I can compare some other programs as my short list has changed a few times over the time I've been working on my RN. I am going to do straighterline A&P now that I see that someone has done it and it has been accepted by Excelsior. I will have my community college A&P I and will be doing their A&P II but it's 16 weeks and I don't want to wait a full 8 months to be done. *Hopefully it doesn't take me near 8 months to finish my last 3 exams...*

At this point I think I'm going to do Excelsior's BSN program. My ultimate goal is to get into the Frontier School of Midwifery, for my NP in family practice medicine. You have to have a year experience as an RN so I think the excelsior program will be the best fit to complete in a year. I took all my nursing exams in under 3 months, so I promise you it won't take you that long. Just use the practice exams to study from and buy yourself an NCLEX book to read over the things you don't know. That's how I did it and I was able to take an exam every 1-2 weeks.

Congrats, I am thinking about taking A/P II, I did take I and then did the Excelsior exam. I just don't want any problems down the line.

Did u need everything that was in the lab Pack, or can you get by without purchasing everything?

I took it without lab because Excelsior didn't require lab and I just want to take my BOARDS! :)

MissinMyErica, I don't me to hijack your thread but I need your help. First CONGRATS! Next, I have been email/debating with an advisor that refuses to believe that someone has taken A&P through straighterline for Excelsior. Could you PM me the name of the contact person at Excelsior that gave you approval? I would appreciate it, I still have most of Excelsior theory exams left and like you I only need A&P II and the advisor I am dealing with isn't budging. It would seem they need to get some consistency regarding what they will approve and what they won't.

Did you buy the recommended book or did you get by without it?

I used my A&P 1 book that I already had. Only problem I had was some questions were about diagrams only found in the recommended book. No big deal though. Good luck.
