Excelsior questions

Nursing Students Online Learning

I found out about the Excelsior program and went to their website. Maybe I missed something but I don't get how you do your clinicals? I didn't call them because I really didn't want to hear a sales pitch. I'm just curious, do you do all the classes online and then what for clinicals????? Thanks all.

Specializes in MOHS surgery.

Are you a LPN right now? I am in the process of getting started with Excelsior. I would recommend writing down all your questions and calling them. You will not hear a sales pitch. They are great. I have called and asked questions on several occasions making sure this is right for me. They will answer all your questions and send you so extra material so you will see what it is like. basically you get an outline, they recommend books, you study, then when you feel your ready you go to a pearson vue testing center and take a test. after you have taken all the tests you register to take your clinical. you will go somewhere for a weekend and take your clinical. hope this helps. the best thing to do is call. they are really very nice.

I'm not an LPN. This is a big career change for me. I don't work in health care now but I'm looking. I'm gearing up right now to go back to school. Do you have to be an LPN for their program? Thanks.

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

Yes. The program requires that you be a healthcare provider of some sort (LPN, Paramedic, RT), or that you've completed 50% of an RN program already. Requirements are here:

Because of the nature of the program (distance learning with a clinical exam at the end, vs. clinicals concurrent with theory as in most traditional programs), students must already have a foundation in healthcare that included clinical education.

hey, thank you, I missed it i guess. That's what I needed to know.
