If careplanning is your issue, I would highly recommend Sheri Taylor's online workshop. I watched her careplanning videos and webinars until I could write a careplan that needed no revision in under 10 minutes. This saved my butt during my first PCS because of the time crunch I was under. If I would have needed to revise my careplan I would have failed for lack of time. I don't know anything about other workshops, but I KNOW I was the best prepared for careplanning during my weekend. I knew exactly how to use my kardex to find what to use for my careplan and for all 3 PCS's it only took me about 5 minutes to bang them out, with no revisions necessary. My documentation was the only thing I was completely confident about during my cpne. I had my "according to maslow" statement memorized so it fit for every situation. All I needed to do was fill in the blanks with whatever was going on with my patient. Maybe other workshops offer similar info, but like I said, I only know about Sheri's.

I worry about careplanning for when I take it. I keep looking for a careplan workbook with like scenarios and samples. I will take the above advice and do the online workshop on it.

You all are great here. My husband and family are supportive also which is great but I really felt like such a failure. I know this stuff like crazy! I dream about it!! But my bad point is careplans.not so good and that is what failed me once and the other was I failed to document that I checked the skin under nasal cannula tubing. I did it and skin was intact but I didn't chart it.....felt so stupid.I've went thru all my greiving processews today lol....and I now accept it....don't like it but I accept it. I met some awesome people today and I know one passed but unsure of the others. I wish I would have got their numbers or emails or something. They were wonderful people and I hope they all did well. I told 2 of my friends that are in the program about my eperience and they both said they wanted to quit...but I told them how doable it really was and encouraged them to keep going. We just needto study together and work on careplan stuff . We can do it. I'm not going to quit. Don't know where I'll get the money but I'm not wasting what I put in to this when I want to make my goal of being an rn!

Sorry to hear this hotnurse! It sounds like you are meeting this head on, and ready to keep going. Thank you for sharing your story, it really does put some this CPNE into perspective. So if we forget to document one thing, we fail?! This really makes the traditional schools appealing about now, but we made it too far to turn back! I also wish that once we hit the lifespan exams, we would could begin careplan work. Maybe that is why they are changing the FCCA  Again, thanks for sharing your story! It is appreciated and wish you all the best next time! How soon are you testing again?

Hey Deb! Did you do FCCA already? How do you feel they compare? How many careplans do you get with the workshop and does Sheri check them? I am working on LS2 and would love to start working on some now.

I'm probably going to pay and sign up in the next week. And while I'm waiting for a date study careplans and keep memorizing all my mneumonics for my grid(actually I'll probably never forget those, they r ingrained in my head...lol) but I need to look into this careplan class of sherri's or excelsior's ccareplan class. See which might be best for me. But I won't accept a date too soon. I'm thinking end of may if I could. Id like to not forget a thing that I did this weekend, I know what to expect, and what they expect of me.

What is Excelsior's careplan class? I didn't even know they have one! I swear, I need to start writing things down as we go....Way to stay on track with signing up!! Use this experience as a learning tool & think of the advantages you will have for next time! :)
