Any Deaconess Students out there

Nursing Students Online Learning

Can I here from some Deaconess students about how they feel about the program. There seem to be so many Excelsior students here. I just want to know how you rate the quality of education you are getting and is it worth the money?

I am Norwegian nurse, and have worked as a nurse-educator in a Deaconess school of nursing. I dont know if your program is like ours, but; here we get a complete RN education, but have some classes extra in etics. When I took my education 20 years ago, I was satisfied with the program. Much has changed since then.

Now I am working as a clinical nurse spec. in a canser hospital, and find it very interesting.

Tell me, if you want to, about your program! Do you have to pay the education by yourself?

I am currently in a traditional ADN program at a local community college. I am looking into Deaconess because I am not satisfied with the quality of education I am getting and other outside personal reasons that are not related to school. I receive financial aid, I have 5 scholarships also and I am a school ambassador which means my school pays my tuiton and I get to pocket all the rest of the money.

I believe Florry is speaking of something different - the Sisters of Deaconess order - which the Deaconess College of Nursing was originally based, back in the late 1800s. It is now a traditional nursing college.

Oh yeh, I'm starting the online program May 19th!

Specializes in Pediatrics.

Be sure you go to "edu" and not "org" as this is a hospital named Deaconess.

I am enrolled and to begin in June. This is, to my knowledge, the only nursing college that permits students no former medical background or education. Having said that, depending on your background/education determines where you begin in the program. Obviously for those who are already LPNs then they would not begin at the same point as someone with no nursing education.

I have researched the college extensively and their reputation is outstanding. They are a nursing college and grant degrees in nursing only. They have a very long history which you can read on their website. The college also offers the traditional on-campus programs for those who are interested.

Good luck, email me too if you have questions. I will do my best to answer them.

I am a Deaconess College Graduate and now a practicing RN. I will be going back in July. It is very expensive; but a quick way to get your education.
