I love the versatility too. I like being an eyeball nurse.
I love wearing pajamas...er, I mean scrubs to work.
I like that I wear a scrub bonnet (the blue ones) on my head so I don't have to fuss with my hair (a ponytail or a bun is the way to go). .
I am sure there is more but I'm tired and can't think of anything else right now.

Being able to wear sweatpants to work and then change into scrubs and then back into sweatpants when I'm done.

Superficially? The lax dress code. Who doesn't want to throw on a comfortable pair of pants and just walk out the door?!
On a more academic level, I love that nursing is an ever evolving field. I can't imagine working in a stagnant environment, doing things the old fashioned way "just because." I love that we're respected professionals expected to always maintain a solid knowledge base that is incorporated into our practice to ensure the best outcomes for our patients. From journals to CE's to advanced degrees, we are eternal students. It's an awesome feeling.

I love not having to work Monday-Friday 9-5 . . . and still getting a decent salary. I love the flexible scheduling.
I love the intellectual challenges -- there's something new to learn every day and keeping on top of the game takes dedication and work!
I'm proud that I can make a difference . . . my assessment skills can identify a change in condition before it becomes an emergency and timely interventions can improve outcomes.
And scrubs do beat the white polyester dress, white hose and white shoes I used to have to wear to work!

ER nursing: Always something different, getting to play "detective" and solve mysteries, seeing a patient from start to finish. Never being bored. The controlled chaos. The teamwork. Being able to function fairly independently. Saving someone's life...as corny as that sounds.
-12 hour shifts, more days off, and having a relatively flexible schedule.
-The versatility to switch to a plethora of specialties if I should choose.
-The feeling of doing something that actually matters. I like feeling that I contribute to society and I'm able to help people.
-It's a respectable career.
-Having knowledge that I can utilize outside of work in regards to my health and my family's health. When I should decide to have kids, I think it will help me be a better mother.
-Constantly learning something new.
-Hospitals are EVERYWHERE! I can relocate fairly easily.
-I wear pajamas and sneakers everyday and never having to worry about picking an outfit.
-It pays the bills!
