Oct 20, '06I wouldn't have an issue with having certain channels blocked from the pediatric TVs, but I think limiting viewing period for pedi patients is unrealistic.
Kids who don't watch much TV at home are probably going to watch more in the hospital.
Sure, there are other activities that are better for kids, but those aren't always available. I've seen hospitals whose child life folks are only there for 8 or 10 hours on weekdays, and their toys/games are locked up when they aren't there.
Reading is great- I'm a reader myself- but if a kid's not, then he or she is not likely to become one in the hospital, though promoting reading is not a bad thing.
Encourage other activities, but don't take away the TV!
