Nurses collect sweet jackpot

  1. Dawn Bradley thought the call from a co-worker was a joke.

The caller said she was one of 16 Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center nurses who won Saturday's $6 million lottery.

"We were painting our bedroom," said Scott Bradley of the call his wife received Sunday morning. "We didn't have a lot of time to think. The first thing we decided, though, was that we were not going to quit our jobs."
It was only the second time Bradley, 38, chipped in cash for tickets, although she has worked at the hospital for more than 14 years.

Purchasing her share was just chance. The nurses have been playing the lottery for about a year.

Good for them !!! But I'm also glad they aren't quitting their jobs - after you divide $6 million by 16 people less taxes there isn't a whole lot left - just enough to fund a nice retirement egg and have a little fun. How nice to have that option !

how much does it annoy me though that it was a group of nurses in florida, and not MY group of nurses in NJ.

well, good for them. 160k for hitting the lotto isn't a great amount of money, but it's certainly better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

one thing is certain: the money went to people who bust their asses for a living
