Emergency care providers rally at U-S Capitol
Sept. 27 - WASHINGTON Thousands of doctors and nurses will rally at the U-S Capitol today in support of new legislation called the Access to Emergency Care Act.
Representatives of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Emergency Nurses Association say they want to help preserve access to emergency care for all Americans.
Experts will discuss the state of emergency medicine in the United States. Their message is that many of the nation's four-thousand emergency departments operate at or over capacity.
They say others are either closing due to rising health care costs, or are having a hard time attracting and retaining staff.
