Wonder if rolling sick-outs might be better at sending the message that they're serious while limiting potential patient harm.
It's an ugly situation. More and more large companies are rolling back healthcare coverage for retirees. Healthcare costs are out of control and there's no end in sight. It seems to be far more important than social security. CNN/Money had an article today that June '05 saw a large jump in job cuts are some are now being blamed on healthcare costs.
NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Job cuts jumped 35 percent in June, with the number of layoff announcements pushing the monthly total to its highest level since January of last year, an employment firm said Wednesday.
"The cuts are not necessarily an indication of economic weakness, but rather the by-product of numerous trends, including changing consumer demand, outsourcing, mergers and acquisitions, automation and consolidation. We are also starting to see job cuts resulting from higher health care costs
as well as higher oil and natural gas prices."
