Hello everyone

I am currently working on my LPN degree I graduate in September and I have a prior DUI that I pleaded no contesto. This was in 2003 with no other incidents since. (Once was enough) will this prevent me from sitting in on my state boards? Does anyone else have a similar experiance this was over 15 years ago and it still haunts me ;( so so stupid on my behalf

So you will have to explain the incident to the BON. Gather any court documents, rehabilitation records, etc. have several personality references who will explain how you have personally hanged your behavior and lifestyle. You may consider seeing an addiction counselor for an evaluation and a letter saying that you presently have no signs of addiction. The you wait... for them to decide. They will most likely issue a license, the question is weather you start out on a monitoring program. Check out the recovery forum for details on that crap show

Wow I would have thought being the fAct it was so long ago with no other incidents i wouldn't have to do all this. My anxiety just went to 30000

Maybe yes. Maybe no. It all depends on how they approach it. I would have everything ready to go to expedite the process and do whatever you can to get things done quickly and avoid a monitoring program.

in a perfect world you would have been working to get the record expunged a few years ago. Now you have to move forward with what you got.

remember the board is not for you. It's for the public. Give them facts, just the facts. Anything you say can be used against you.

Thank you so much for the advice it is greatly appriciated

Hey!

Not in the same exact boat with you, but pretty close. I received an out of state DUI 10 years ago, and recently applied for my boards after graduation.

It is has been over a month without a response. I included court certified documents, reference letters, and a personal statement letter.

Just a heads up, it is impossible to reach the BON. I literally call them at least 3x a week to try to get an update. I hope your experience is better than mine. I'm really stressed out and am in jeopardy of losing my job.

I am in the same boat. I have an out of state DUI from 9 years ago. I applied for my license on May 1st and still have no answer. After waiting hours on hold with the Pa BON I finally talked to someone, she said I should expect to wait weeks to MONTHS while my application went through their "legal" department. If I don't test by mid-July I lose my new job, I told the lady at the BON this and she basically laughed saying she doubted mid-July would happen. Have you received any updates?
