Nursing jobs in Texas

Published

Good morning,

I graduated nursing school last spetember, but do to family issues and problems I am just now getting my license. I wanted to know if anyone had any input on new graduate positions in Texas. I am from the Maryland area and want to move somewhere else. I am currently looking for new graudate positions. If anyone knows of any hospitals that are hiring I would like to be in the area by September of this year. Earlier if that is possible.

Yes yes and yes. Especially if you go into a big city like Houston or Dallas or Austin. Contact the Texas Nurses Association as they have job listings that can be emailed to you. www.texasnurses.org They may send that list only to members, but I would ask. Go online to various facilities as most will only take digital apps anymore. Good luck.

Thank you. I am looking in the big city areas first hoping to get a reply. I was told that it may be harder for me since I am not from the midwest, but I wanted to give it a try. Thank you. If you know any opens personally let me know. I am applying all over the place, but I never thought about using the Nurse Association.

I personally would look in smaller towns. I've looked around my area a little & I've seen a bunch of the small hospitals looking for nurses with a sign on bonus. You can get a job in the bigger cities but they was a BSN. My best friend is applying for residency positions & jobs in San Antonio. She's had 2 interviews where 300+ applied & only 10 or less were interviewed. She is an RN-BSN. I'm not saying it's NOT possible to get a job in a big city, it may just take awhile.

Desirable RN positions in big cities are getting dozens if not hundreds of applications each from new grads from around the country. I hear the smaller out of the way places are better?

Areas near the border are always desperate. The last two ADN new grads my unit hired both "knew someone" or we would have hired one of the dozens of other BSN new grads.

Moved to TX forum.

If anyone knows any good hospitals in the rural areas I would love to work for one. Sometimes the best experience comes from rural areas or places you never thought would be great that turned into a great opportunity for you.

If you know any small town hospitals that are hiring I would love to work for one. I only know the big areas of Texas, but I think a small town job would be good for me with my future goals.

If you really want a small town job.. Temple, Tx. Scott and white is the hospital in the area and is a teaching hospital. They will give you some money to relocate also. I am working here now. The town is small, near a military base, and cost of living is very affordable. Just have a heads up of what you are getting into. Look at glassdoor.com for the company reviews. I am trying my hardest to get back to Houston (where I am from) and in the area I want. Scott and White hires year round for interns. the turnover rate is very high. July makes a year for me. Good luck. PM me if you want any additional info.

How do I PM you
