Just wondering how everyone else hires and retains their aides. I work as a health service director-RN, shared between two assisted living facilities. I oversee 29 PCA's at present. There are 5 at present whom I want to fire, but need to hire to replace each one. Reasons are incompetency! I otherwise, have a wonderful staff. These five indiduals make it a difficult atmosphere for the other PCA's to work in. Some of my best are threatening to quit. Of course I am continually writing them up without corrective results. I cant just fire because that will leave the other PCA's worn out. Im already down 4 at present who are ill-seriously.
