Nursing Internships

Published

When do you start to apply for nursing interships or even look for nursing internship postings?

Before spring semester starts? Or in the middle of spring semester?

I see postings for nursing internships already at certain hospitals, however they require at least 2 clinical rotations, BUT I have only completed one: Fundamentals.

I will complete 2 after this spring semester (Med-Surg and Psych) and once the nursing internship program starts.

Or does it all depend when they start accepting applications?

Thanks in advance!

One of the hospitals local to me as a 1/31/2010 deadline to apply for nursing externships. You need to have 2 clinicals completed but that will be done by the time the externship actually starts in the summer.

I think as long as you complete a clinical by the time the internship/externship starts you should be fine. Most want med/surg to be completed.

I noticed one hospital I was applying to last summer stated that you had to have one completed by the time you submit the application, but I think that isn't the majority and the application will specify if that is the case.

If you have any questions though I would give the hospital you're interested a call. It'll make sure you have the materials they require and it might even help to get your name in.

Good luck! :)

I found this guide on the internet last year and it was really helpful. It is from last year but I'm sure it would be useful again. It has some websites and dates. Hope it helps!
