I am a new member here; actually, this is my first time to participate in the forum. I am currently completing my MSN specialized in nursing informatics, but I am still working as a bedside nurse. I'll start applying for the informatics position in our hospital. Do you think I can sit for certification exams while I am still working as a staff nurse? Please advice.
    Thank you

In addition to the other ANCC NI certfication requirements, you may qualify if your MSN program fulfills the following practice requirement:

    - Have completed a graduate program in nursing informatics containing a minimum of 200 hours of faculty supervised practicum in informatics

Are other certifications, such as in Health Information Technology, useful in this field? At my facility everyone is encouraged to gain certification in their field and for those just starting an Informatics position, this may be an option. Just a thought,
