hello!

Can anyone tell me how long does it take to process an application in Makati Medical Center? Because Im planning to submit my resume this month of november...

And are there any special requirements that i need to have before applying?

I need some infos...:typing

Thanks!

are they still contacting applicants? those who they think qualified for the position? thanks

That I'm not sure. Just try your luck and pass your requirements :)

No, mine was a negative so I was asked to come back for a repeat PPD. :| Hayy, lucky you! :)

I actually passed the said requirements... I went there last First week of september... are they really basing it to what school you are came from.?

I think thats not fair.. I think, ones skills and knowledge should not be deprived just because of the school standing. unlucky for those who worked hard to have good grades and to have a high board rating. we'll anyone of us are not 100% sure if it is their criteria... but its should not be... everyone must go through screening and if they are qualified enough, then they may be a candidate for employment.

Nursing life here in the philippines is so frustrating.. but then its all my opinion.. i can accept if im not chosen but i really dont like their so called criteria (from top school thingy..)hehe.. peace. thanks!

Well honestly, I am really against that concept, if they really follow that. Definitely agree with you. It's really a sad fact in the nursing profession, but I guess that's one of the ways to stop the "mushrooming" of incompetent nursing schools. I really hope all hospitals screen their applicants primarily basing from their board rating and/or academic ranking, regardless of school attended :)

When you say you are PPD positive (also known as positive TB skin test), it means you are positive for TB or you were exposed to TB. When you are PPD negative, you are not. When you say you "fail" a PPD, it's means you're "PPD positive". I don't get why those who are PPD negative were asked to come back for a repeat. That's why I was confused with your comment when you said that you "failed" your PPD, but you're PPD negative :)

We should have a PPD positive because we are already exposed when we were young. Remember the BCG vaccine? Thus having a negative PPD may mean either you were not vaccinated (I doubt), the vaccine given to you was not potent or the vaccination was given via wrong route (rather than ID, maybe given via SQ)

We were, but a PPD test will only turn positive up to 5 years AFTER your BCG. I'm pretty sure no one had his/her BCG 5 years ago. A positive PPD would only mean you have TB or in a lesser degree, infected with TB bacilli BUT body's defenses has caused it to be inactive therefore harmless :) In the Philippines, mostly are PPD positive because we are overly exposed to TB, but doesn't mean we have it. That's why they double check it with the xray if you're positive. And if xray's clear, there'd be no problem.

I passed the rqmts this morning and I got lost. whoow! I went to tower 1 instead of tower 2. I hope I'll receive their txt. But I'm still doubtful to pursue my application here. It's far from my home - Novaliches. :|

BTW, I passed the one with board rating that is mailed by prc. I haven't claimed my certificate of board rating yet. I hope they're not strict with that.

Thank you PHLnurse. you have a point.. well, we cant blame MMC for that matter, since they opt to maintain their standards. but i think thats not their job.. lets give it to CHED.. but i really do agree, just like what you have said that to screen applicants based on their rating and academic ranking.. But i have so much respect for MMC.

but still im not losing hope that ill be contacted since the closing date will be on oct 26. i really worked hard since college and during board exam, i do have my trainings already, i trained in a hospital for 6 months and came from a reputable nursing school, but if they dont give me the chance, then ill be searching another options.

I just wanted to be employed in a good hospital, like MMC, for my personal and professional growth.

I would be happy for you guys.. Goodluck nurses and stay positive.. we will have our own place soon...

Same happened to me when I first went there. Almost got lost! But it's a good thing you still passed your requirements just so you'll have options :)

I don't think they'll mind. I passed a print screen of my board rating coming from the PRC website hahaha and they didn't seem to mind :)
