i trained at the Philippine Heart Center for more than 3 months.and im currently working here in San Fernando, La union..

my monthly is 6,180 (gross) in pesos..:(

have to seek my luck there...:)

ill be taking my CGFNS exam this september 10...hopefully ill pass the test...wish me luck!!!

Aloha!!!

I' a Filipina nurse too.I'm stillworking as staff :lol2: nurse here in the Philippines, Olongapo City to be exact.Well, wish me luck. I'm also trying my luck abroad.Actually i recived mails from different agencies.

the university of perpetual help las pinas campus is in alabang-zapote road. it has a website that you can search. i don't know its admission policy on 2nd coursers and if it has an accelerated program for those who have an allied health 1st course. schools usually ask for a copy of the transcripts of the 1st course and they will evaluate which subjects can be credited. be prepared also (if they ask) with a copy of the course description from your previous college/s to facilitate the evaluation. anatomy subjects in a nursing program are often taught differently from non-nursing programs. sometimes, non-nursing programs have shorter hours (and no laboratory hours) for anatomy and physio subjects. so, be prepared to be told to take this subject again. anyway, it is a very important subject that can help you a lot to understand nursing subjects such as medical-surgical nursing, maternal and child health, clinical practice, etc...

salamat kiko! --- hope everything will be in our favor for whatever decisions we might arrive at. thanks for the help!

hello...i am new here. thanks for my friend who told me about this website. i got some questions. i hope someone can answer this. i am planning to work in IL. by the way, i'm from philippines. last year, i passed CGFNS and received my certificate and visascreen. i took IELTS. i was so frustrated to learn that IL is now requiring TOEFL and CES. what does it mean? do i have to take TOEFL and have this CES? please advise....i really need it. i even wrote the dept of professional regulation in IL about this last february but i got no response until now. by the way, i have no choice but IL.

for jing16th. yes, IL asks for CES now (since last year) and TOEFL (but I think not the TSE portion anymore). CES has less requirements. Your papers are now with CGFNS, right? because of your CP application. your case will be faster. you can apply online (maybe, before the may 1 fee increase). processing time is probably 3 to 5 months in your case.

write IL to send you an application packet with fingerprinting cards. fingerprinting is done in nbi carriedo or provincial offices. send the card (not to the IDPR) but to the fingerprinting agencies mentioned in the forms (such as identix, etc..). check the website of the agencies for the instructions, forms and the fee.

i think IL asks for SSN for the renewal of the license.

incase you will be interested later on, you can use your cgfns certificate, ielts and visascreen already for some other states such as arizona where there are plenty of nursing jobs waiting for newly grads. check the arizona nurses forum here for more info, and also the arizona bon website.

how come you have no choice except IL? do you have already have an employer there waiting or maybe family ties?

i hope this helps. goodluck!

Hello,(kamusta)

Im filipino and currently live in the states. I've been very interested in becoming a registered nurse for some time now. I applied to many schools here in the states, but mostly all of them have a very long waiting due to shortage of teaches and school with the high influx of applicants coming in. I would like to know more about the nursing schools in the philippines and how i can attain my bsn within 4 years. Im already 26yrs old, and im not getting any younger. I've been looking at UP, UST, and especially Our lady of Fatima in Venenzuela. Where do i start and how do i begin. I really need your advice and it will be greatly appreciated. thank you.

Hi. All the schools you mentioned are good schools. Do you have a previous degree? Because this will shorten your course to 2-3 years depending on your previous degree.

I think almost all schools now accepts 2nd coursers but the tuition is higher for 2nd coursers and esp. if they know you're from the states (they may consider you as foreign grad).

If graduated from H.S. then much easier to find a school but it will be 4 years to complete the BSN program.

Goodluck.

Hello!! I am a nurse and I am working as a RN preceptor here in Virginia and proud to be a FILIPINA!! To all my fellow nurses, at sa mga malapit ng maging nurse, Mabuhay!! sa mga student nurses natin, study hard, masuwerte kayo at nasa tamang propesyon kayo. mahirap at matagal no proseso but you will reap the rewards later. Nurses are in demand not only here in America, sa buong mundo na yata.

I was a young nurse, eager to get a nursing job, but nobody wants to hire me, not that I am not qualified(good grades and passed the boards and my rating is higher than average) , there are to many nurses, I volunteered for six months, no pay, i have to buy my own uniform, ok lang, I love nursing, and i want to gain experience. I went to different countries to practice my profession, and I did good! promotions, rate increase, but still I dream of actually working in the philippines as a registered nurse, not a volunteer nurse. I went back and applied for nursing jobs in Manila, Broken hearted and and i even felt betrayed (hu hu hu) i packed my bags AGAIN and went to the United States. I took all four test, TOEFL,TSE, CGFNS, NCLEX, (SINGLE TAKE LAHAT YAN HA). in one year I was made charge nurse and i was offered an RN preceptor position, which i of course accepted and i am good at it. I am not sharing my story to brag, but I just want our new nurses and soon to be nurses know na may time na you might want to give up nursing, there will be a lot of frustrations, even failures, but dont give up, stand strong. You are a nurse and be proud. And hey, I am not bitter and I am not mad at my motherland, given the chance, I would come back and serve, my beloved.

To Apolonia,

My sister told me about Lanting College of Nursing, i heard they accept students of all ages, my sister is a doctor by the way and she told me that some of her friends are on the nursing program. a friend of mine, also a doctor, dito sya nag take ng nursing. and she will come here in Virginia later this year. My advise na lang is be careful in choosing your nursing school, marami na daw nursing schools sa pinas, choose a school that will give you a strong foundation in nursing. Goodluck.

sa mga fellow pinay nurses, kung may questions kayo, about nursing here in US, feel free to ask, sasagutin ko sa abot ng aking makakaya.

I got my BSN in Centro Escolar University, circa 1994, passed the boards in 1995, I was a young nurse, eager to get a nursing job, but nobody wants to hire me, not that I am not qualified(good grades and passed the boards and my rating is higher than average) , there are to many nurses, I volunteered for six months, no pay, i have to buy my own uniform, ok lang, I love nursing, and i want to gain experience. I went to two different countries to practice my profession, and I did good! promotions, rate increase, but still I dream of actually working in the philippines as a registered nurse, not a volunteer nurse. I went back and applied for nursing jobs in Manila, but most of the hospitals prefer young nurses, I was 30 then. Broken hearted and and i even felt betrayed (hu hu hu) i packed my bags AGAIN and went to the United States. Hi mobitz! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. I'm an RN currently working here in Dubai. i don't see any good demand of nurses here so I'm planning to go to the US. I have 1 year experience in a hospital in the Philippines and 1 year experience here in Dubai. Can you please tell me what steps I need to take in order for me to go to the US? I haven't taken any nclex, IELTS etc and all of those stuffs. Do you know which state in the US I should target? Do I need to go to an agency in order for me to go there? Or you might know any hospital that hires nurses directly via their website application?

thank you very much in advance!

winnie
