hello everyone

I just recently completed the biology course through the ILC and i have like 5 more courses to go. I was just wondering is there anyone else out there taking prerequisite for nursing and how do you guys stay motivated????

alot of negative been going through my mind lately, i am 22 years old and most people around age have bachelor degrees and here i am getting my pre-reqs for nursing by the time graduation comes around i will probably be around 28

do you guys think i should move forward or just go out and find a full-time job?

lol .. lil wayne fan are you?

Your sooooo young! If you want to become a nurse and your sure about it, stay in school. Don't drop out.. trust me.. you will get nowhere fast just getting a fulltime job. BTW, what kind of FT job would you try to get? I don't know if you live at home with parents or what not but if your smart you will stay in school. I dropped out when I was your age and I wish I would have stuck with it because I would be in a much better place than I am now trying to go back at my age! What state are you in??

#1 fan hahha YMCMB 4 life!

your right i might as well finish what i started:)

but the thought of everyone around my age being 4 years of ahead gets to me really bad.. i feel so left out and depress. i should have started college or university back in the day but i was a rebel back then, always up to no good and didn't care much about school.

i am paying the price for it everyday.. 4 years wasted doing nothing!

sadly i am still at my parents lol!

as for a FT job i was thinking retail, just working my a** off for 6 years straight atleast there money coming in... but that's my plan B if i don't get all the courses done in time.

Age means absolutely nothing when it comes to school. Not everyone has the same opportunities when it comes to college. Not everyone wants to go to college right after they graduate from high school. I was one of those people. I wanted nothing to do with college when I was 18. My parents forced me to go and all I did was party! Later in life I decided I wanted to go back to college (I was 28) I wanted it so I was serious about it and I actually did the homework, studying and paid attention to what the professors were saying in lecture. I got my Bachelor's in Business at the age of 32.

I have been unemployed for a year and a half now and that degree I got 3 years ago has done nothing to help me get a job, so I decided to see about going to nursing school, which was something I wanted to do when I was younger but was discouraged from pursuing by friends and family. I just finished my last 2 pre-req classes and I turned in my nursing school application the other day. If all goes as I hope, I will start nursing school in the fall (ADN program) and I will finish and sit for the boards when I am 37.

Don't let negative thoughts derail you!!!!

thank you so much to both you!

i feel so energized and motivated to keep moving forward!

i can't change the pass but i can make difference in my life!

time to get back on the grind, my next pre-req course is chemistry lol...

I am turning 25 on Saturday, and I just finished the pre-health program at Humber and got accepted to the RN program. I'll be 29 when I graduate. Because of school, my boyfriend and I have been renovating my Mom's basement into an apartment for us. I finished a 2 year program to become a massage therapist, which turned out not to be a great career, so I'm already in debt!

Don't get discouraged! You can do it, and you'll be happy when you're done!

I was 45 when I stared nursing pre-reqs

Gosh, you're making me feel old!Don't give up! I'm 27 (soon to be 28) and I just got into an RN program for September. I just finished a prehealth program and honestly, I wasn't the oldest person.I know how you feel. While all my friends are getting married, all own their own houses and have great careers, here I am renting, newly single and starting school from square one. BUT... I am motivated and will do it. You can too! So who cares about age, right?

Nursing is a second career for me. I graduated nursing school at age 50. There was a women who was a pratical nurse for many years and got her RN at age 67. It is not too late. There is always hope.

I went to college and took my PN at age 40. I graduated at 41. Now I'm upgrading to diploma. I'm turning 62 on the 25th. Now I'm thinking I want to bridge to RN. Not sure I'll do it and make it, but I just want to try it. So if I were your ageI would just go for it if it's what you really want. At 41, if I would have had the money, I would have continued on for my RNs then, but I just couldn't afford it. So you see there is no age to continue, especially you are so young. Good luck to you and never mind where everyone else is. Look out for yourself. I'm sure you'll meet people younger and older than you. There is a 62 yr young man (2nd career) graduating this yr from PN program he's probably 64 now.

Don't worry about your age. There are so many people who are your age (or older) and in the same position as you. When I was doing high school by correspondence, I've seen so many older adults picking up courses, it's no big deal. I still have to finish a prerequisite (math) and I'm 24... I probably won't get to finish the course until I'm 25 and if I get into the nursing school year that I want, I will be 26 and won't graduate until I'm 30 or 31. A girl I used to work with and who was in her first year at the time said there were so many older adults in her classes (the oldest was in his 40s).

Just think about it: Would you rather give up on your prereqs and work a job your not satisfied with for the rest of your life? Would you regret not going to nursing school?
