Manitoba Nurses

World Canada

Hi! I'm just new here so please pardon my ignorance.. I just graduated last april and passed the board june of the same here. I'm a registered nurse here in the Philippines and been committed as a volunteer nurse for 3 months now since all the hospitals stopped hiring nurses for selfish reasons if I may say. I have a pending application as a provincial nominee in Manitoba and I intend to challenge their CRNM exam but I'm a bit confused wether I'm qualified if a) I still don't have a paid hospital experience, b) I'm a second courser and I just finished my nursing degree for 2 years (trimester). I already visited the CRNM website but I couldn't find answers to my concerns. Please explain to me the things that I have to do to enlighten me. Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, I am an IEN who just got here in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada last January 20. Im holding a permanent residence status. Im a registered nurse in the Philippines with four years of experience. I am wondering how will I obtain a license here as a registered nurse. I have not done any language proficiency exam yet but i am already planning to. I have heard the " nursing acceleration challenge exam" too but have no idea on how/where/why and when to take it? Will i be starting from the scratch again.... pls.. i need someone to inform me for i really do not know where and how to start towards becoming a registered nurse here in canada.

Thank you and I am really looking forward in hearing from you some information regarding my concerns.

I suggest you read some of the threads here. The process is discussed and explained numerous times in numerous threads.

Basically, you have to apply to the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba http://www.crnm.mb.ca/ for registration. They will assess your eligibility based on documentation provided by yourself, your school of nursing, PRC and your employer(s). One of the things that MUST be included in your application is your current academic level IELTS score (

The nursing acceleration challenge exam isn't something that is administered in Canada and it actually applies to nurses who are planning to attend an educational upgrading program such as LPN-to-RN or RN-to-BSN. In Canada such examinations are usually called Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR).

Please do some reading and educate yourself. The information is all here. If you want to get to it faster use the Google search bar in the top right hand corner with the keywords "IEN Manitoba".

I would like to ask if you already submitted any documents as IEN for review with CRNM? or Already did and just awaiting for your assessment result/ Eligibility letter?

If youre a nurse in a clinic not a hospital, will they credit that as work experience? does it matter if youre in a hospital or clinic setting?

To everyone who was asking whether Filipino nurses have to take the CCA:

The CRNM is making almost everyone take the CCA unless you have very exceptional circumstances (the example the CRNM gave me was a US nurse with 10yrs ICU experience MAY get out of the CCA). I'm from the US and they initially told me I wouldn't need to do it, but they changed their mind. I was also told by the agency that does the CCA in Winnipeg that of the hundreds of nursing programs in the Philippines, only like 6 compare to Canadian programs. If I were you, I'd definitely plan on taking it so you don't waste time or have surprises later on.

Hi!

Any updates from those who had applied in Manitoba? What are the chances of Filipino nurses being advised to undergo CCA? Anyone?

Hoping you could share your experiences and insights since there are not so many threads you could read about application with CRNM. Thank you.

Hi I'm a Registered Nurse here in the Philippines also. can somebody help me in figuring out if I will be able to take the CRNE in Manitoba?

I graduated BSN and passed NLE in 2009.

Since our application as Provincial Nominee in Manitoba was still not approved, I went to Medical School and studied Medicine for 1 year (2010-2011).

>>But before that i was REVIEWER/LECTURER (local) in a Nursing Review Center from august 2009-august 2010.

>>I was a Nurse Volunteer for 3months in a Private Hospital here in my hometown.

January 2011, our application as Nominee was approved. Completed our requirements and now, we are instructed to wait for a go signal on an average of 9-11months... Should I work as Staff nurse to meet the requiremets or any suggestions??

with these informations, would I be able to have CCA and qualify for CRNE?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Your reply would be of great help to me.. :D
