Alberta RN overtime rules

Hey all,

I'm a new casual RN to AHS. I was wondering if someone could tell me how overtime works for casuals. I can't seem to find the answer, and no one seems to know. Is it calculated using 4 week or 6 week period? And if so, how many hours in that time frame, and how is the time frame determined?

thank you!

It's calculated over 4 weeks. The collective agreement states: "A casual employee shall be entitled to overtime worked in excess of 147.25 hours averaged over a 4 week period starting October 6, 2014." So you would need to dig out a calendar for 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017, then count the weeks forward to figure out when the 4 week period is. To make it easy for you, I just did the math. It has been 151 weeks as of yesterday, so this is now Week 4 of the most recent block.

Great thank you!
