NV new grad job market

  1. I am going to graduate in spring 2013 and am wondering what the job market is like throughout Nevada. I am attending school in Las Vegas but have recently decided I am most interested in finding work in Reno near my family. I know there is a new grad program at St. Mary's that I can apply for in April. However, I have heard it's nealry impossible to get work in a Reno hospital if I didn't attend a Reno nursing program. Is this true? Am I better off trying to find work in Vegas? I'll probably apply in both areas but any current info on the job market in either Reno or Las Vegas would be greatly appreciated!

It's been almost 5 years since I was hired in Reno, but there were new grads from all over the country hired along with me in January of 2008, so that hasn't been the case in the past. I split in 2009, though, so things certainly could have changed.

I will tell you that UNR spits out 96 students a year and TMCC and WNC also have a lot of graduates, so you'll have competition for those jobs.
