Nursing in Fairhope, AL

HI there, my husband and I are relocating to Fairhope next summer. He's from Mobile and wants to be closer to family.

We both have 16 years of ICU/ER/Cath lab experience. We'd appreciate any info any one has on the surrounding hospitals, Thomas, Mobile Infirmary, North Baldwin, South Baldwin, specifically work conditions, are you happy there, pay scale etc...

Thanks a lot!

Specializes in ICU. Has 30 years experience.

I worked for 8 years in ICU at South Baldwin. It was a busy environment when I worked there, because we were constantly placing swans. We had a few docs there that loved them, and it was always at the worst possible moment when a doctor would call and say set up for a swan. I had 3 patients pretty much every day, and we didn't have a nursing assistants in the ICU. That was 12 years ago, and I am sure a lot has changed since then. That said, I must have liked it OK, since I stayed for 8 years! I worked prn at Thomas and hated it. You need to forget about North Baldwin, it is a solid hour's drive from Fairhope. If I were you, I would try for South Baldwin; they have a cath lab, an OB department, progressive care dept, and just more to offer than North Baldwin.
