Nursing entrance exam 2011

Published

Hello my fellow nursing peers! Well I wanted to post a new thread regarding the TEAS and also the journey towards getting into nursing school. I just took my TEAS V last Saturday and I must say that it was not what I expected. Pretty much, READING, ENGLISH, and MATH were the simpler subjects but SCIENCE was pretty tough. Although the other 3 were fairly simple, it is EASY to think that you have the RIGHT answer but in actuality you DON'T! READ each question!! SLOW, SLOW, SLOW! But not too slow that you run out of time. PACE yourself. READ each answer choice even if you think you have the right answer. The TEAS can be a little tricky if your not careful.

I recommend that you study from the TEAS V Study guide by ATI AND the McGraw Hill study guide as well. Also, if able, take the practice tests online from ATI. They really "mirror" how the TEAS V will be when you actually take it. Plus, its good practice. You can't go wrong by taking that extra step.

Some words for encouragement...it is possible to pass! Believe it in yourself. I didnt think I could pass but I did. I've worked hard to get where I am. Its not easy but it is do-able. You have to put everything else aside and FOCUS. It is worth it and the feeling you get when you pass is overwhelming! A big weight has been lifted off my shoulders and it feels good to know that I am on my way to becoming a RN!

STUDY HARD!

concrats!!!!!!!!

was the test prep material expensive?

i wish you the best in nursing school !!!!!!!!!!!!:nurse:

It was 35 dollars for 2 practice tests. They are the same but you get to take the test twice. Study guide was about 40 bucks. McGraw Hill study guide was about 20 bucks. It gets costly but well worth it in the end. Good luck to you too!

Congrats girlie!!:yeah: I will be taking that soon so I appreciate the heads up!!

Thanks so much i will take your advice

I have taken the test three times already and have cried so much. I don't know what to do. It seem easy, but its just tricky.

I just took the TEAS test Version 5 today! The test wasn't very hard, but some questions were kind of tricky. I would highly recommend getting the ATI study guide, because the format of the test is the same as the format of the practice test in the study guide. The math and science sections I thought were fairly easy, I got 100% on the math and 98% on the science portion. I didn't do as well on the English portions though. But, just make sure you review all the material in the study guide and you'll do fine!! If anybody has any questions about the test, I'd be glad to give you more tips.

I take the Teas for RN entrance into program test in two weeks any advice?

Buy the ATI study guide book. It helps a lot. Review all the subjects in there and do the two practice tests. Go over the sections correlating to the questions that you miss on the practice test. Don't stress too much, this test is really not that hard. Just know your stuff and you will be okay.

Congratulations! Thank you for the advice. I am taking the TEAS in about three weeks and I'm stressing out! I was wondering how much time you took to prepare for the exam, how long did you study each day? I'm horrible at math and I took my science courses years ago.

I've purchased the TEAS V study guide and I'm looking to get a few more. A couple of reviews on amazon say the Mcgraw Hill's Nursing School Entrance Exam guide has many mistakes. Did you run into any of those problems?

The McGraw Hill's book's science section helped me quite a bit. I liked this site for math: http://www.purplemath.com/

Some people don't realize how tricky the TEAS is until they take it. By then, they've already used up one of their attempts.

This book has numerous tips for scoring high on the TEAS: http://www.myfasttrackbooks.com/raiseyourscorebook.asp
