On-line RN to BSN

Specialties Educators

Published

I'm teaching an "intro to professional nursing" class on-line in the fall. The program was just approved, and I'll be the first teaching on-line.

Does anyone have any sites, syllabi, anything that could help me? I don't have a clue how to do this outside of a brick and mortar campus!

Congrats on your new position!

I would think the university you're working for would provide an orientation to their platform of instruction (blackboard, webct, etc). I would get involved with their educators' forum for support. Have you tried googling this subject? I know there is a Certificate for Online Instruction offered at many quality online universities.

Hope this helps! By the way, any tips on how you got the job? I'm in the middle of an MS degree in Nursing Education, and it's my goal to teach online, also. Do I have to be finished with my MS degree or can I start teaching with my MS-in-progress status?

Thanks,

Thank you for the tips.

I teach in a traditional BSN program and was underloaded so they gave me this assignment as well! I wish I could say it was something other than that. With the push to go online, I'm sure you could find something. Try Phoenix...some of the people I work with teach through them.

Phoenix requires an MSN in hand. I will probably have more options once I'm finished with my MS degree.

Best of luck,
