As a newer lecturer I would like to know how you prep for lectures. I have found a system that works for me, but it's messing up our shared classroom.

I read chapters, keeping detailed notes and topics to guide me on my Power point slides in the notes section. I had IT set up a dual screen so the presenter view is available. So basically my computer screen shows my notes, while the overhead projector screen shows just the slides.

Since the set up, we can no longer use a lot of other features we've once used......so my question is...how do you teach a 3 hour class w out notes? How do you prep?

Rather than the dual screen, I put all my notes onto the note section of ppt and print off the note pages to use as a guide. Lots of paper, but since I keep it year after year it's worth it.

ya, I was trying to be green as the school is huge on saving $$....I started that way and thought the notes presenter view was more efficient and I can always reuse and reference the next time I teach that course. I guess paper may be my only option. glad to know I'm not the only one who references notes. thanks

I don't usually use the single-sheet per slide note pages because I don't need a whole page of notes for 1 slide. I print out the "handout" with 3 slides per page, then hand-write my notes on the note-taking part intended for students. With 3 slides per page, it dramatically cuts down the amount of paper -- and means I don't have to "turn the page" for each slide.

1. New lectures I prep and practice it till I don't need notes. I keep iPad close by with my own bullet points and any complicated information I might need. But for the most part, I've read and studies enough prior to the lecture.

2. Short notice lectures - I keep iPad at hand with my notes on it.
