End of the year review for high school students - how to keep it interesting?

My kids are done learning all of the material to be covered on their final, with 2 weeks left. They'll get a full day of review for their CNA examination, but now I've got them in lecture for 2 weeks minus 1 day to "teach content". They have a study guide that I'll be giving them tomorrow and I plan on giving them review questions regarding each chapter but I can't think of how to keep them motivated through these last few weeks.

They're doing "mock clinical" in skills lab right now for the next 2 days but then it'll be 2 weeks minus 2 days reviewing skills that didn't take that long to learn to begin with. I feel like we rushed through the material for nothing. *cringes in frustration*

Also, I've been asked not to return to the H.S. in the fall because I lack the teaching skills that I would have acquired in a M.A.T. program, so *my* motivation is down as well.

HALP!

I'm sorry to hear about your problems with the job. I just completed my 7th year teaching HS students and love it! I do have some ideas for review for you.

BINGO game with the CNA questions/answers.

Make a Jeopardy game on a trifold board. You can get about 5-6 categories on a big board. Split the class into teams.

For both of the games above, the winners get candy or gum as prizes. At the end of the class, everyone gets a prize anyway!

The Flyswatter game - on paper (like construction paper), write the answers to questions. Tape them up on the wall, haphazard - like. Split the class into 2 teams. One person from each team gets up. Make them stand a certain amount of space away from the wall. Give them each a flyswatter and then you call out the question. The first student that hits the correct answer with their flyswatter gets a point. Their teams can be giving them hints. This game gets loud and competitive! Same prizes as above.

I usually buy my prizes at the Dollar Tree. I also include pencils, which they need in our state to take the CNA test. Black pens are in my basket too, since they will need them when they become CNA's. Small spiral notebooks to keep in their work pockets. Small bottles of bubbles. But the candy and gum are most popular!

We also go over a couple of different CNA review tests together. I put one up on the smarboard and the first person to get the answer right wins a prize. THROW the candy out into the room!

Good luck!
