Just wondering if there are any RPNs or RNs from Ontario Canada who have recently applied to the RPNAO Nursing Education Initiative this year. I applied in May and in July received a letter saying they had my application and they were still waiting on funding from the government. I emailed them in August asking about the status of my application and got pretty much the same letter saying they were still waiting for funding. I submitted another application (for a different course) at the beginning of September and have not had any response yet. I have applied for the NEI several times over the years always getting approved and have never run intro this problem or waited this long for approval. I am wondering if there are other nurses out there who are still waiting or have heard any news about the NEI for RPNs or RNS in Ontario Canada.

I had the same problem this year. I'm assuming they aren't getting funding.

I wonder if it has something to do with the election...no idea why the funding is being withheld. Also waiting...

No it is not related to the election, the election is federal and the money for the nursing education initiative comes from the provincial government.

@RAIC17, you can email your MPP and the Ontario ministery of health and ask if they will be funding the NEI this year.

I emailed after 6 weeks, they said the funding hadn't come in, then never heard back!

Ohh, I was worried this would happen by the time I actually need it. Why not, why not.. I'll be applying spring next year, so I'll let you know how it goes. (Hope they don't scrap the program completely by that time).

Hey just wanted to update you. I applied in May 2015 and just got approval three weeks ago! It had been so long I wasn't expecting anything, but they are processing applications now! Yippee! Good luck:)

I got an email about 5 weeks saying they are processing my application that I sent in June. Still haven't heard if I am approved yet. Hopefully hear about my application form May as well.
