Hi, I am really stuck on the wording of my nursing diagnosis. This is a little different in that it is a "teaching care plan" that my program has us do once a quarter. A teaching care plan always uses a knowledge deficit.. I have the care plan completed, but am obsessing over the the nursing diagnosis. I have looked at it so many times I think I am going crazy.
this is what I have:
Knowledge Deficit: concerning the role of high fiber foods in diet related to small bowel obstruction.
I am concerned about my use of the medical term 'small bowel obstruction'.
is this better:
Knowledge Deficit: high fiber diet needs related to lack of information associated with small bowel obstruction
Any thoughts?? thanks so much for your help.

Can you use "small bowel obstruction" in your diagnosis? I would just say Knowledge Deficit of disease process and therapuetic regimen. That would be the NANDA way to state it.
Then in your goal, you address the The client will verbalize a basic understanding of a high fiber diet...
