I left a hospital to persue Case Mgmt at another hospital and did not have to take a test to check my nursing competency as I was not doing hands on nursing for that position. I have now finished my Masters and would love to return to my previous hospital in a quality control position, again not hands on, but am worried they'll have me take a nursing competency test upon hire as I had to do when I was originally hired by them. I'm shocked at how I forgot so many details about hands on nursing.
Does anyone know if most hospitals require their RNs to take competency exams if they are working in management/quality control? If so, any idea where I can get some practice questions? I cannot remember anything I needed to know when I started nursing or what the test was like! Thanks!
