Would a night time children's center make 2nd and 3rd shift easier?

Alabama - I am thinking about venturing outside of nursing and starting a night time childcare center, thinking that is would be great for medical families and especially single moms that would like or do work 2nd or 3rd shift. I would love to hear your thoughts.

I certainly think a night-time childcare center would be well-received in many cities and towns across the US because, unless one has a spouse or supportive family to watch the kids, high-quality childcare is almost impossible to find during late hours.

Where I'm from we have a large amount of chemical plant workers who work shift work, and 24 Child care service is very popular. There are a couple of facilities around that do great! It's a great idea!

I've worked in child care for 5 years, and directed a daycare for 1 year before beginning my nursing journey. Opening a daycare is rather easy IMO. Of course it is different state by state, but it's definitely something I may do down the road.

I think it sounds like a good idea depending on the needs of your area. I've also thought that a daycare with a nurse that could take kids when they are sick would be nice. Not extremely sick of course, but those vague "not feeling good", little bit of fever days. Seems like my kids would run a bit of fever, just enough to keep them home from the sitter's or school, but never really develop into anything beyond that. Or might run a fever with an ear infection even after starting abx. Would be nice to have somewhere that would have a separate "isolation" area to watch kids with a mild illness.

When I became a single mother when my daughter was 6 months old and I had to go back to full time night shift, I thought this to be a good idea, but then I thought about how hard it was sleep training, I wondered how well my child would sleep at night in a strange place with all these other kids trying to sleep too......

I would think that childcare at night isn't as much needed as it is during the day so mom/dad can sleep after a night shift. Unless they are both in healthcare, there is probably one at home during the night.

As a nurse married to a cop this would be great!!!! I work 7-730am and he works 4p-2a :/

It may be a good option for single parents that have to work nights and eves. In my case, I choose to work overnight because my husband is home at night with the kids and then I am home when they get out of school. Someone is always home with them. I don't think I would be comfortable with my kids spending several nights a week outside of their own beds and in the care of people I don't know. I may feel differently if I were a single parent that has no choice but to work off shifts and has no help from family and friends.

Are you anywhere near a military base? There's always need for overnight child care in those areas.

I'm picturing a child care center, with the ability to take in sick kids too? If that were possible it could be big bank.
