Nurses Career Support

Published

I am a new and young RN who graduated in May with my A.A.S. I am currently taking courses toward my BSN and will have my BSN in May of 2014. I moved to Hicksville Long Island from upstate New York two months ago in hopes of a more opportunities in the nursing field, but I have not received any job offers yet. I am interested in pediatrics and have applied to many pediatric doctor offices and hospitals as well. Does anyone have any advice for me on how to get a RN career, or any suggestions on where i should apply? Thank you!

Kelsie

You need to apply to other places as well to get nursing experience. LTC, rehab facilities, outpatient clinics, the VA, home health care, per diem agencies, hospice centers, correctional facilities, and so on. Later on once you've gotten some experience, start applying to pediatric specific positions.

You might also consider applying outside the state of NY - get license endorsements or whatever they call them from the surrounding states, if you can afford to do so. Commuting to a job is better than no job at all.
