I am looking for information on Nursing Careers in Ashville NC. I'm finishing up my degree in IL and was wondering what salary is like for Nurses in Ashville. Are there good employment opportunities? Do you find it's hard to support yourself on a nursing salary in Ashville and live comfortably? I'm a single momma and hoping I can live comfortably on a nursing salary. Any thoughts, advise or opinions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks !

Asheville is an expensive area in my opinion. I live in Charleston sc and go up there occasionally. You might try Greenville SC. It is a great place, strong economy, more affordable, and it has schools locally for advanced nursing degrees.

Asheville has become fairly expensive due to the large numbers of affluent retirees moving there -- they have pushed prices up for everyone. Lots of people whose families have been in Asheville for generations can no longer afford to live there and have had to move away, which is sad.

I have no idea, though, whether nursing salaries have gone up along with the general cost of living.

I am considering Asheville because I have family there. I am also curious if they pay increases with a BSN vs Associates at Mission Health. I know some hospitals require you to get your bachelors but will not increase pay once having it. I graduate in May with my RN and trying to decide if I should relocate at that time to ashville and get my BSN then or stay in IL for the following 15 months while getting my BsN then relocating.

New grad pay at Mission in June 2016 was $22.26. They require that you get a BSN within 6yrs of your hire. Don't beileive there is a difference in pay from ADN to BSN.
