Hey! I am looking for anyone that may have advice for me. I worked on a med-surg tele floor for three years and now am working in MICU (almost a year). I want to go back to school, but I am not sure if the program I applied for is right for me. I applied to acute care NP for this fall and am waiting for my acceptance. My husband is in his third year of residency and I need to decide quick if this is the program for me so that we may decide where we would like to move for his job offers. During my interview for this acute care NP program I realized that what I believed a NP program to be was incorrect. I now need to step back and rethink my furture. I feel like I am being pressured by my family who believe in higher education and by my husband who needs me to decided soon. Is there anyone who can offer me some advice? Any acute care NP's who can tell me what it's like being a NP and what my options are please!!!??

Try under APRN categories. It'll probably net you more NP answers.

You said, "During my interview for this acute care NP program I realized that what I believed a NP program to be was incorrect."
What were you expecting the program to be like? Have you done any other research about NP programs? If we know what you were expecting, we might be able to help you find a program that fits your expectations, if one exists.
