Hello everyone, I would like to open a nursing agency. I have been running my own business in a health care industry primarily associated with (health insurance) for over 15 years. I want to know if anyone has any suggestions as to what do I need to open my own personal practice in nursing agency. For example: how do I get orders in for example wound care, how many treatments does the client need who writes these? a physician or an RN? Any advice will help.

I opened a discussion on this subject also. I want to open a CNA training school but would like to know how to go about doing so. Please help me with any information you may be able to offer thanks

I urge you to first become very familiar with healthcare reimbursement infrastructure - there are very specific regulations that must be followed. Failure to do so ... even if it is a mistake due to lack of knowledge ... can result in sanctions, including fines, criminal conviction, and ending up on the OIG exclusion list. The last item would mean that you would never be able to even work for an organization that accepts Federal reimbursement; this is just about every healthcare provider in the US.
One of the most effective ways to learn the ins-and-outs of Home Care - that seems to be what you are describing - is by working in that field. You will learn about all the documentation and paperwork requirements. With a good mentor, you can also learn about billing processes.
Check your local CC to see if they offer adult education for Small Business Owners. These courses will prepare you for the generic payroll and accounting responsibilities. Many larger communities also have Mentors available through the local Small Business Owners chapter. These are retired people with a lot of know-how to share.
Best of luck to you on your new career direction.
