Is there a reason you only addressed this question to the ladies?

I know this will sound nitpicky, but it annoys me to hear the Affordable Care Act called "Obamacare."

Personally I have no problem with the term Obamacare, even Obama has embraced it. If the best that those opposed to reform can come up with is a catchy, but rather meaningless nickname, to express their opposition then I say we let them use it and I'll even use it myself if it makes anyone feel better, it's no skin of my back.

My opinion is that the ACA represents the liberals embracing a conservative plan in order to actually pass much needed reform.

As far as the AFA/"obamacare" is concerned, I think it was a well meaning attempt to compromise between the free market and outright socialized medicine. It has had a lot of unintended consequences as the result of forcing a bill through that should have been looked at more carefully. I think we will continue to see more unintended consequences as ideology and reality collide.

I'm not sure what the best answer is but I don't think the AFA is it. I lean pretty far to the right and the AFA is such a mess that it has me wondering if socialized medicine wouldn't be better.

I have started telling people who call the Affordable Care Act " Obamacare" to start calling Social Security "Rooseveltsocial" As apparently legislation is called based on which president was in office during its enactment.... LOL

I think they just want everyone to be well aware of who is responsible for the mess.

Only a portion of the voting population views the ACA as a 'mess'.
Some view the fact that a working but poor woman just died in Florida because the Republican governor did not expand medicaid and she therefore had no access to affordable healthcare as a 'mess'.

We will never get everyone to agree on something but as it stands now a majority of the voting population doesn't favor obamacare. And what about the cancer patients who can no longer see their doctors because they are no longer covered because of AFA? I guess that's not a problem for you?
