HCA, Kansas nurses' union settle dispute

    KANSAS CITY, Mo.-About 2,300 registered nurses at Nashville-based HCA Inc.'s Kansas City area hospitals will receive $600,000 in back wages in a settlement with the health-care giant.

    Most of the nurses will receive $400 to $600, according to representatives for Nurses United for Improved Patient Care, which is trying to organize nurses at the hospitals. The average payment is about $260.
